Do we really know what is constantly under our eyes? What does the city's everyday visual background hide that our gaze no longer registers? What happens when the photographic lens translates an industrial space into pure shapes? These are just some of the questions posed by FuoriCentro, an exhibition that will be soon open at Chiericati Underground, the underground space of Palazzo Chiericati, home of Vicenza's Civic Museums.

FuoriCentro was born out of an uncommon challenge: that of filtering the local suburbs through auteur photography, bringing to the foreground an area that people usually take for granted, without devoting too much, if any, attention to its actual features.

The images on display, created by Rocco Rorandelli, Lavinia Parlamenti and Andrea e Magda propose different, contrasting and unusual interpretations of the industrial area of West Vicenza, a suburb that is in fact now fully embedded in the urban fabric.

The goal was to apply artistic photography to territory analysis, to freeze the evolution of the city in time and turn it into a useful point of reference for understanding the change now and in the near future.

Factories, homes, private spaces and workplaces have therefore welcomed the group of photographers who have been living in the area for several weeks to develop their own personal vision of the place through fieldwork and constant confrontation.

The exhibition will be open from July 28 to September 24.
